Welcome to the Mobile Work Life research project

The Mobile Work Life Project is a university-based research project funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council. It has two phases:

  1. Ethnographic investigation of home and work-use of smartphones to gather “thick description” of how we live and work with these devices
  2. Follow-up quantitative survey to develop generalizable findings

We will add to current understanding of these now-ubiquitous devices, with a particular eye on their effects on work/life balance.
